The MoNA collaboration is has a strong undergraduate research component. Since the start of the project in 2000 over 150 undergraduates have been an integral part of detector construction, data-taking and data analysis. Undergraduate researchers have been co--authors on peer-reviewed journal articles from the MoNA Collaboration- in some cases they have been the first author.
The MoNA and LISA detectors were built at primarily undergraduate institutions across the country. The undergraduates then came to the NSCL to install and configure the detectors.
