LA CROSSE, Wisc. (10/16/10)-- The "regular season" schedule of meets is now over for Concordia. The only thing left is championship season and the chance to earn All-Conference, All-Region and All-American honors. The Cobbers completed the training portion of their campaign by finishing 19th at the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invite on Saturday in La Crosse, Wis.

While the Cobbers overall team finish was not in the top 15, CC did come up with a optimistic performance as they competed without their No.2 and No.3 runners due to sickness and injury. Concordia beat conference rivals St. Mary's, Augsburg and Macalester and barely lost to Gustavus a s they picked up confidence heading into the conference meet. The biggest positive for CC at the meet came from the fact that they beat cross-town rival MSU Moorhead for the first time at a meet since 2003.

Cobber junior Tom Sederquist finished sixth at the meet but was the third NCAA Division III runner to cross the finish line. Sederquist ran a 24:53.5 and had the lead in the meet at the 3-mile mark. Sederquist lost ground in the uphill portion of the fourth mile and was never able to close the gap in the final miles. The good news for Sederquist is that once again he was the top MIAC finisher at the meet and has yet to lose to a conference opponent this season.

Junior Tanner Sakrismo stepped up and filled in as the team's No.2 runner. Sakrismo finished in a time of 27:07. He was followed by Paul Lillehaugen (27:27), Michael Dunn (28:05) and Spencer McCombs (28:17).

Concordia will have a two-week to heal up and train for the conference championship meet. The Cobbers will participate in the MIAC Meet on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Como Park GC at 2 p.m.
