Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/13/10)--Concordia junior forward Riley McGlynn put on another offensive show on Wednesday as he scored both goals for the Cobbers in their 2-0 win over Hamline. The win pushes CC's unbeaten streak to eight games and moves their overall record to 10-3-1 which marks the first time the Cobbers have posted back-to-back 10-win seasons since 1996-1997.

McGlynn has turned into one of the premiere players in the MIAC as he scored his league-leading 10th and 11th goals of the season. McGlynn now has 32 points for the year which is the third highest in program history. He is one point shy of the second highest point total in school history and 10 behind the school record of 42 set by Peter Curry in 1994.

The Cobbers' eight-game unbeaten streak has pushed Concordia to the brink of their first-ever MIAC playoff spot. CC is currently 5-2-1 in league play and in second place in the league standings with 16 points.

Concordia and Hamline battled through a scoreless first half with both teams getting a pair of golden chances to get on the board. McGlynn had a point-blank shot carom off the underside of the crossbar and bounce down and out in the fourth minute of play. McGlynn was then stopped on a breakaway in the 30th minute. He was played clear of the Piper defense and had goalie Zach Nelson leaning the wrong way but Nelson was able to get a glove on McGlynn's shot and deflect it wide of the goal.

Hamline's (5-8-0/1-5-0 MIAC) best chances came courtesy of midfielder Ibou Wone. Wone missed a shot from 10 yards out in the 11th minute from all alone in front of goal. He also shot in the 37th minute that was saved by CC goalie Peter Runquist.

The Cobbers started to win the play in the middle of the field in the second half and started to get more quality chances. McGlynn finally put Concordia on the board when he collected a ball at the top of the HU penalty area and hit an initial shot that bounced into a Piper defender. The ball came right back to McGlynn who hammered it back on net. The ball deflected off the leg of a defender and caromed past Nelson and into the Hamline net.

The Pipers tried to come up with the equalizer but started to run out of gas with 20 minutes to play. McGlynn took advantage of the tired defense when he took a pass from Kyle Kazemi, who won a header in the middle of the field, and dribbled past three HU defenders and slotted the ball past Nelson and into the open net. His goal at 85:21 sealed the win for CC.

For the game Concordia outshot Hamline 20-9 in total shots including 16-2 in the second half alone. The Cobbers held an 11-3 edge in shots on goal. Peter Runquist made three saves to pick up his first collegiate shutout. Nelson had nine saves in goal for the Pipers.

Concordia will put its eight-game streak on the line when they host St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. That game will be the last regular-season home game for the Cobbers.
