St. Peter, Minn.-- Concordia gave up five goals for the second consecutive game and lost to MIAC defending champion Gustavus 5-0. The Gusties, currently ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III West Region, scored two goals 2:29 apart in the first half and added three more in the second half to pick up their second conference win of the season. The Gusties are currently 4-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.

The Cobbers, who were bitten by the back-to-back, goal-scoring bug for the second straight game fall to 0-2-0 in the MIAC and 1-3-0 overall. Concordia allowed a pair of goals 3:51 apart and then two more 1:08 on Wednesday against St. Thomas, and against the Gusties, the Cobbers gave up two goals in 2:29 in the opening period and then two more 5:50 apart in the final period.

The Cobbers split the goalkeeping duties between Brett Oestrich and Dustin Pattengale. Oestrich started the game and came away with four saves. Pattengale cam on in relief in the second half and had one save in 45:00 of action.

Gustavus held an 10-5 edge in shots on goal and a 27-6 margin in total shots.

The Cobbers will finish off a tough two-game road trip when they play at Macalester on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 4:00pm. Concordia will return home on Saturday, Sept. 24 when they host St. Olaf at 11:00am.
