NORTHFIELD, Minn. (10/16/10)-- The Cobbers tuned up for the MIAC Championship Meet by competing against two of the top six teams in the conference on Saturday at the Carleton Invite. Concordia had five runners finish in the top 20 of the meet and finished third with a final team total of 61 points.

The Cobbers were led by the top 10 tandem of senior Kristy Singlestad and freshman Hannah Knickerbocker. Singlestad ran a 24:01.26 and finished in eighth place. Knickerbocker was :10 seconds behind and placed 10th in the meet. It is the first top 10 finish in her collegiate career. For Singlestad it is the fifth meet of the season she has been the team's top finisher. It is also the third time in 2010 she has placed in the top 10 of a meet.

The biggest plus for the Cobbers at the meet was the fact that they placed four runners ahead of defending region champion Carleton's No.5 runner. The Knights are currently ranked No.5 in the region and 28th in the latest USTFCCCA national rankings.

Besides Singlestad and Knickerbocker - Morgan Christian, Britney Barnett and Heidi Brenden all placed in the top 20 at the meet. Christian was 11th with a 24:23.77 while Barnett ran a 24:25.51 and was 13th while Brenden finished 19th in a time of 24:43.03.

Concordia will have a two-week break for training before they compete at the MIAC Championship Meet at Como Park GC on Oct. 30 at 3 p.m.
