MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/17/07)-- Concordia had four players receive National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Central Region honors it was announced on Monday. That is the most players in school history to receive All-Region honors in a single year. It is also the most players from any school in the MIAC and third most from a single school in the region.

Defender Andrea Purcell (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) capped her final season by being place don the All-Central Region Second Team. She follows in the footsteps of Morgan Bain, who was named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Team in 2005 and 2006.  Senior Rachel Lewis (Lakeville, Minn.) and freshmen Sam Johnson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) and Susan Obermiller (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) were placed on the All-Central Region Third Team.

For all four players, it is the first time in their careers they have received All-Region honors. For Purcell, Lewis and Johnson, the award comes on the heels of earning MIAC All-Conference honors.

The four players helped the Cobbers to a record-breaking season. The team finished with a school-record 16 overall wins. CC went 16-4-1 on the year and made the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. Concordia also put together a school-record 12-game winning streak during the season. The team went 9-1-1 in the MIAC and captured their second straight regular season crown. They also went on to beat Macalester and St. Ben's in the conference tournament to claim their second consecutive playoff title.

Purcell was the team's top defender and a four-year starter. She was the toughest wing defender in the MIAC. She helped the Cobbers finish the year with a 0.61 goals against average and record 11 shutouts on the year. The team was also ranked in the top 25 of the nation in goals against average.

Lewis led the team in goals scored and game-winning goals and was second in total points. She had a career-year by finishing with 12 goals and three assists for 27 points.

Johnson led the team in assists in overall games and finished tied for second with Lewis in overall points. She finished the year with nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. She scored at least one point in 12 of the team's 21 games and had at least two points in 11 of those contests.

Obermiller led the team in scoring in 2007. She ended the year with 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. Her goal total is the second-best in program history for a first-year player and her point total is third best on the list. She also led the team in shots with 59 for the season and recorded at least one point in four straight games to end the season and had a season-high five points in CC's 6-0 win over Luther on Sept. 2
