St. Thomas (8-3, 5-2) wins 79-76 in OT at Concordia (5-6, 3-4)
Concordia came back from a 42-31 deficit early in the second period with a 24-7 run that put them up 55-49 with ten minutes left in the game. Concordia held the lead until 31 seconds left in regulation, when Mike Wrobel hit a short jumper to put the Tommies up 71-70. Concordia's Joe Ford hit one of two free throws with three seconds left in regulation to send it into overtime at 71-71.
The Tommies never trailed in the overtime but Concordia had one last
second three point attempt fall short, leaving the Tommies with a 79-76
MIAC
win.

St. Thomas Game notes from Gene McGivern, St. Thomas SID Men's Basketball in MIAC playoff chase *St. Thomas is trying to make the four-team MIAC men's basketball playoffs for the 12th time in 13 seasons. They're currently 7-3 overall and third in the conference at 4-2 going into tonight's game at Concordia-Moorhead. They're currently in a stretch of five consecutive road games and are 1-2 on the road thus far in the MIAC. The Toms' three defeats have all come on the road by margins of 2, 13 and 4 points *Under 20th-year head coach Steve Fritz, the Toms have never had a losing record. Fritz' all-time record is 335-179.
*Kip Sparby (SR-Cold-Spring/Rocori) broke the school record and moved into fourth in MIAC history in career three-point baskets with 214. With at least 14 games to play Sparby needs 26 treys to become the MIAC's all-time leader. Sparby has 1,194 points and 542 rebounds on his career *Joe Buri (SR-St. Paul/Trinity) has 976 points and 393 rebounds on his career and is on pace to join the career 1,000-point club this week. *Mike Wrobel (JR-Willmar), who played his first two seasons at Concordia-Moorhead, averaged 16.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg and shot 70% from the field in three games last week, with a best of 21 points and 16 rebounds vs. Augsburg.
*The Toms play rival St. John's -- currently 10-0 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC and the MIAC favorite -- Jan. 17 at home and Feb. 16 on the road.
