Itasca State Park 5K, Bemidji State-Concordia Dual, September 4, 1999:
Concordia opened their 1999 campaign against Bemidji State in a 5K at Itasca
State Park. The day brought extremely wet and muddy conditions with
over 6 inches of rain having fallen during the week. Although the
times were slow because of the conditions it was evident that most of the
Concordia team had trained well over the summer. Concordia defeated
Bemidji State by a narrow 27-28 margin. Leading the way for the Cobbers
was Steve Edlund (Jr., Cyrus, MN/Morris H.S.) with a time of 17:51, 2nd
overall. Chris Goebel (Jr., Albany, MN) finished 4th overall in 18:22.
Matt Jorgenson (Jr., Paynesville, MN) demonstrated what improved summer
mileage can do by running 19:22, 9th overall. Concordia’s top Freshman
was Nathan Stoa (Fargo, ND/Oak Grove) with a time of 19:45, 12th overall.
