Pre-Meet Information for Coaches and Fans

2000 MIAC Individual Conference Wrestling Championships
Saturday,  February 26, 2000 -- Concordia College, Olson Forum, Moorhead, MN

WEIGH-IN PROCEDURE: Saturday, February 26 at 8 a.m. in the wrestling room in the lower level of Memorial Auditorium. A typed weigh-in sheet signed by each school's athletic director must accompany the coach and his team to the weigh-in. The host school hands its sheet in first. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of the conference tournament. The weigh-in form should contain overall season record, MIAC record and MIAC record in the weight class.

SEEDING MEETING:  Friday, February 25 at 7 p.m. in Room 139 of Olson Forum. Sandwiches and pop will be provided. Only one representative from each school will be able to speak at the seeding meeting. Seeds will be posted on the Concordia web site late Friday evening, as will final results  following the meet.

SEEDING CRITERIA:  Consideration shall be given to a contestant with:
  1.  Head-to-head competition.
  2.  An outstanding overall record.
  3.  Common opponent results.
  4.  Returning conference placewinner.
  5.  MIAC Dual Meet record.
  (not necessarily in this order)

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:  Saturday, February 26, 2000 at Olson Forum.
   10:00 a.m. -- Championship quarterfinals.
   11:00 a.m. -- Championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals.
   1:00 p.m. -- Consolation semifinals.
   2:00 p.m. -- Championship finals consolation finals.
   True-second matches will follow the heavyweight bout.
Wrestlers will be guaranteed 45-minute rest.

LENGTH OF MATCHES:  Championship--7 minutes; Consolation--6 minutes; True-second--7 minutes.

CONFERENCE AWARDS:  MIAC certificates will be awarded to the top three wrestlers in each weight class. Awards for the 125-pound weight division will be awarded following the completion of the 133-pound weight division. Wrestlers are to remain dressed for the awards ceremony. Awards for weight classes involving a true-second match will not be held until that match has been completed.

The Carl Larson Trophy for the outstanding wrestler, the Rory Jordan Trophy for the most falls in the least amount of time and the MIAC Coach of the Year award will be presented following the individual awards ceremony.

OFFICIALS:  Tim Shiels, Joe Roth and Chad Crow.

OTHER INFORMATION:  Lockers will be available. Provide your own locks and towels. Trainer will be provided but bring your own supplies. Remember to send in a copy of NCAA official weigh-in sheet, so we can verify wrestlers. Results will be posted on the Concordia web site as soon as possible following the meet.

ADMISSION CHARGES:  Adults $5, students with ID $2.

PROGRAMS:  Programs will be available for 50 cents each. Each team will receive 20 free programs. School SIDs should send rosters and other information to Jerry Pyle, Concordia SID, as soon as possible before the meet.

WILD CARD MEETING:  Head coaches will meet in the Olson Forum upper classroom (139) immediately following the awards ceremony for the wild-card selection meeting. Have a typed copy of the NCAA Individual Season Wrestling Record Form sent to Jerry Pyle, Concordia SID, at (218) 299-4189 by Wednesday, February 23.
