1/20 Concordia Goes Ice Cold,
Loses to Bethel 83-47.
Concordia stumbled out of the gate, shot 23% in the first
half and lost to Bethel 83-47. The Cobbers spotted Bethel 11 straight points,
never found the range from the field and turned the ball over 21 times
to suffer their worst defeat of the year. The Royals used a steady three-point
shooting hand and an intense defense to hold the Cobbers under 60 points
for the second straight game.
Concordia trailed 46-15 at the half and was unable to scratch away at the deficit in the second half. The Cobbers were led by Jeff Ubben (Jr., Moorhead, MN) who had 10 points and 10 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season. No other Cobber scored more than eight points, as leading scorer Joe Snowden (Sr., St. Paul, MN) was held to five points on 2-for-10 shooting from the field.
Concordia finishes off the first half of the MIAC season at an even
5-5, while their overall record slides to 8-6. Bethel improves to 7-3 in
the league and 9-4 overall. The Cobbers finally receive an extended break
as they will take on Hamline on Wednesday, January 24th at 7:30.
