3/3 Concordia Finishes Third
at MIAC Championship Meet.
Concordia used a strong middle and long dstance corps to finish in
third place at the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet. Chris Goebel (Sr., Albany,
MN) won the 1000 and finished second in the 1500, while teammate Steve
Edlund (Sr., Cyrus, MN) finished second in the 3000 and third in the 5000
to pace the Cobbers.
The third place finish marks the fourth consecutive year Concordia has finished in the top three. The Cobbers finished with 114 points which was 33 points ahead of fourth place Gustavus.
Adam Strainer (Sr., East Helena, MT) once agained claimed the title of the MIAC most all-around athlete as he finished first in the Pentathlon for the second straight year. He also finished second in the Triple Jump with a distance of 46'6 1/4" which provisionally qualifies him for the national meet.
Other Concordia highlights included John Andan's (So., Kumasi, Ghana) second place finish in the Long Jump and a sixth place finish by Jeremy Pris (So., Somers, MT) in the 55 Meter Hurdles. Joe Schmidgall (Jr., Morris, MN) finished third in the High Jump after placing fourth in the Pentathlon.
