11/17 Concordia Shocks #1 UW-Oshkosh 72-64.
Concordia gave first year coach Sara Cepek an opening night to remember.
The Cobbers came out and shocked UW-Oshkosh 72-64. The Titans came into
the game as the #1 team in the nation in many
preseason polls but trailed the Cobbers by seven at half and could
never overcome the deficit in the second half. The Cobbers were led by
last year's All-MIAC player Sara Spears (Sr., Spicer, MN) who poured in
25 points to go along with 15 rebounds. Katrina Wiberts added 14 points
and 7 rebounds while first year point guard Trisha Steinborn (Jamestown,
ND) contributed 12 points and only turned the ball over one time. Concordia
only committed 13 turnovers for the game and was able to force UW-Oshkosh
into 26 miscues. With the victory Concordia will play host Luther
College in the championship game of the Luther Tournament on Saturday at
4:00. The Norse defeated Augustana of Rock Island, IL 46-39.
