11/18 Concordia Edges Luther 66-63, Wins Tip-Off Tournament.
Concordia erased a four point halftime deficit and rallied to beat
Luther 66-63 in the championship game of the Tip-Off Tournament. The Cobbers
came out hard in the second half and tied the score early, and then proceeded
to pull away only to have the Norse narrow the gap late in the game. Luther
had a chance to tie the game in the closing moments but a last second,
buzzer beating, three point attempt went half way in and then spun out.
Brandi Myers (Sr., Glyndon, MN) fought off Friday's shooting woes and led
the Cobbers with 16 points. First year point guard Trisha Steinborn (Jamestown,
ND) handled the Cobber offense without turning the ball over and finished
with only one turnover for the tournament. Sara Spears (Sr., Spicer, MN),
who had a double-double on Friday, pulled down eight rebounds and scored
10 points.The only other Cobber in double digits was sophomore forward
Katrina Wilberts (Breckenridge, MN) who also finished with 10. The win
come on the heels of Concordia's upset of UW-Oshkosh last night. Concordia
will travel to River Falls, WI to take on UW-River Falls on November 30th
at 6:00.
