70-58.
Concordia used the usual suspects to down conference foe Macalester
70-58. Brandi Myers (Sr, Glyndon, MN) led all scorers with 21, and Sara
Spears (Sr., Spicer, MN) added 15 from on the block. The Cobbers opened
up a 37-28 halftime lead on a 16-for-32 shooting performance from the field.
Concordia's pressure defense forced the Scots offense into multiple turnovers,
and the Cobbers were rewarded with layups and short shots. For the game
Macalester turned the ball over 37 times.
Concordia could not pull away from Macalester in the second half, and kept the game at the 10-point margin for most of the remaining 20 minutes. The Scots were led by Sarah Hesch (So., Burnsville, MN) who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Spears was the leading rebounder for Concordia with 8, as Macalester out rebounded the Cobbers 43-31.
Concordia snaps their one-game losing streak, and jumps to 6-2 in the
MIAC and 8-3 overall. Maclester falls to 1-7 in league play and 3-8 overall.
Concordia returns home to face St. Mary's on Monday, January 15th at 5:30.
