Cobbers Lose Non-Conference Tilt to Rocky Mountain
Concordia scored the first goal of the game but then went on a scoring drought, and lost a 3-1 decision to Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) in a game played at Jamestown College.
Kendra Lee (Jr., Jamestown, N.Dak.) opened the scoring only four minutes into the game, as the Cobbers (5-6-0) played with only 10 players due to class scheduling conflicts. After Concordia added an 11th player, the Cobbers surrendered two goals less than four minutes apart in the first half. The Bears would add a third, and final, goal before the break on an own goal by a Concordia defender.
The two teams battled though a scoreless second half. Concordia goalkeeper Kathy Braun (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) made several key saves to keep the game within striking distance, but a fierce headwind proved to be too much for the Cobbers as they were unable to crack the Bear defense. Braun made 10 saves for the game, while Rocky Mountain goalie Britt Sande turned away 4 shots.
Concordia returns to MIAC play when they host St. Mary's on Saturday,
October 6th at 11:00am.
