Concordia Throwers Shine at Cobber Invitational.
Becky Lacher (Sr., Princeton, Minn) gets ready to release the weight just before making her national qualifying toss.

Concordia, led by strong performances in the shot put and weight throw, finished fourth at the Cobber Invitational.

Both Mariah Mougey (Jr., Enderlin, N.Dak.) and Becky Lacher (Sr., Princeton, Minn.) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III national meet in the weight throw, and first year throwers Erica Eastley (LaMoure, N.Dak.) and Nicole Irvin (Eagan, Minn.) turned in solid distances in the shot put. Mougey threw her season best with a toss of 46-0 3/4, which placed her fourth in the meet, while Lacher threw a personal best of 45-6 1/4. Eastley had a mark of   38-8 3/4 in the shot put and has been consistently been putting up distances that are in the five of the MIAC. Irvin had a personal best 37-0 1/2 in the shot put, which betters her old mark by over two feet.

As a team, the Cobbers won three events in the meet. Lisa Owen (So., Minot, N.Dak.) finished first in the 1000 with a time of 3:11.30. Beth Moen (Sr., Andover, Minn.) ran away from the field in the 5000, finishing 38 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Her time of 19:07.87 is the fourth fastest in school history. And the distance medley relay team of Liz Sorenson (Jr., Stanley, N.Dak.), Sheena Berg (Fr., Barnesville, Minn.), Jen St. John (Fr., Billings, Mont.) and Owen ran a 13:18.31, which is the seventh fastest time in school history.

Concordia travels across the river to compete in the Bison Classic on Friday, February 15th at 4:00.
