Quarterback Ryan Hebrink (Jr., Sacred Heart, Minn.) put the Cobbers on the board with a 15-yard touchdown run with 5:47 left in the first quarter, but the Pipers answered on the following drive, converting a 5-yard pass from Nate Dammann to Dan Ryks, gaining a 7-6 advantage with 14:04 remaining in the first half. Hebrink had all the answers though, hitting Andrew Passanante (Jr., Hawley, Minn.) with a 43-yard touchdown pass with 9:07 left in the half, then scoring on a 54-yard run with 1:03 to go. The score remained 19-7 through the third quarter, until Bobby Clark (Jr., Seeley Lake, Mont.) broke loose for a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown with 12:20 left in the game. Concordia added two more touchdowns, a 10-yard strike from Hebrink to Passanante with 4:18 remaining, and a 32-yard completion from backup quarterback Jacob Odermann (Fr., Belfield, N. Dak.) to Chad Worthington (Jr., Bozeman, Mont.) with 2:04 to go, giving the Cobbers a convincing 40-7 victory. |
