8/30 Cobbers Complete Opening Day Sweep, Outlast Valley City 3-1.
Concordia completed an opening day sweep at the MSU-Moorhead tournament by outlasting Valley City 3-1.

The Cobbers were able to take the pivotal first game of the match 30-27. The Vikings came back to tie with a 30-19 win in game two. After that the Cobber offensive attack took control and the team posted victories of 30-14 and 30-24. In the two matches in the opening day of the MSU-Moorhead tournament, the Cobbers have only dropped one game and have outscored their opponents 199-157.

Jessica Walden (So., Hawley, Minn.) was the story in the second match of the day for Concordia, putting up a career-high 55 assists. Sophomore hitter Amy Fitzner (Valley City, ND) led the Cobber offense with 18 kills as she shined against her hometown college.

Concordia will finish the tournament on Saturday when they play Mayville State at 11:00am and MSU-Moorhead at 7:00pm.
