Cobbers Score First But Can't Hold Gustavus, Lose 4-1.
Concordia senior Kendra Lee (Jamestown, N.Dak.) Scored the first goal of the game in Concordia's 4-1 loss at Gustavus.

Recap from Gustavus SID
(St. Peter, Minn., Sept. 21, 2002) –Gustavus scored four unanswered goals to rally from behind to defeat Concordia-Moorhead 4-1 in an MIAC battle in St. Peter on Saturday.

Alysen Farran’s (SO, Plymouth, MN) provided the game winning goal for Gustavus as she sent a header into the back of the net three and a half minutes in to the second half. It was the first goal of the year for the sophomore midfielder.

Concordia started the scoring five minutes before halftime when Kendra Lee (Jr., Jamestown, N.Dak.) scored on a breakaway for the Cobbers. It proved to be Concordia’s lone shot on goal on the afternoon. Gustavus quickly answered as Christa Harrison (SO, Platteville, WI) scored on a pass from Samantha Engh (FY, Wayzata, MN) just over a minute later.

Also scoring goals in the second half for the Gusties were Renee Beaudry (SR, Apple Valley, MN) and Heather Pecosky (JR, Oregon, WI). Beaudry’s goal, the 38th of her career, ties her for third place in school history for most career goals. Britanee Pelikan (FR, Rosemount, MN) provided the assist on each of those two goals.

Concordia goalie Kathy Braun (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) made six saves on the day.

With the win, the Gusties remained undefeated on the season by improving to 5-0-1, 2-0-0 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers fell to 1-4-0 on the year, 0-1-0 in conference play.

Concordia will play their cross-town rival, MSU-Moorhead on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:00pm at MSU-Moorhead.
