Cobbers Score Season-High Three Goals, Down Hamline 3-0.

Annie Cullen (Moorhead, Minn.) slots the ball past the Hamline goalie for the first goal of the game.

Concordia scored a lone first half goal and then used a fierce wind in the second frame to score two more and down Hamline 3-0. The three-goal outburst is the most for the Cobbers since their opening game against Northland College on August 30th.

The Cobbers struck mid way through the opening frame when first-year player Annie Cullen (Moorhead, Minn.) took a centering pass from Amy Jo Walthall (Sr., Staples, Minn.) and slotted the ball past Hamline goaltender Melissa Cherry. The teams traded play in the middle half of the field throughout the first half as a blustery north wind hampered both teams ability to attack the net.

In the second period, the Cobbers (3-3-0, 4-6-1) used the wind to their advantage and pinned the Pipers (1-4-0, 2-9-0) in their own end for most of the half. Concordia scored twice in the frame and out shot Hamline 17-1 in the second half. Kendra Lee (Jr., Jamestown, N.Dak.)  notched Concordia's second goal at 50:34 and Walthall finished the scoring at 85:47. It was Walthall's first goal of the season, and gave her a three-point afternoon. Cullen added an assist on Walthall's goal and also came away with three point for the game.

Concordia goaltender Kathy Braun (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) made two saves in recording her fourth shutout on the season. Cherry made 18 saves in the losing effort.

Concordia returns to action on Tuesday, October 15th when they host Bethel at 3:30pm. The Cobbers will then travel to California to play a pair of games over mid-semester break.
