Cobbers Come Out Fast in First Meet of the Season.
Angie Pfeiffer
Colman, SD
Broke the school indoor record by .5 seconds in the 200 meters.

The Concordia women's track and field team started the 2003 season at a fast pace as they won four of seven duals at the annual Cobbers Duals track competition. The Cobbers beat NCAA Division II and NAIA rivals Northern State, Bemidji State, Valley City Sate and Huron University while losing to MSU-Moorhead, University of Mary and  Jamestown College.

First-year sprinter Angie Pfieffer (Colman, S.Dak.) made the loudest noise for Concordia as she crushed indoor school record in the 200 meters. Her second place time of 26.09 broke the old record by .5 seconds and places her at the top of the MIAC performance chart for the year. The old school record was held by Tracy Berntsen who ran a 26.59 in 1995.

Concordia won three individual events at the meet. The individual winners were Liz Sorenson (Sr., Stanley, N.Dak.) in the 1000 meters and Lisa Owen (Jr., Mineral, Virg.) in the 1500 meters.  Sorenson (1200) and Owen (1600) teamed with Pfeiffer (400) and Carrie Fransen (So., Coleharbor, N.Dak.) (800) to score a victory in the distance medley relay.

The team's outstanding field event performance was a 45-9.25 toss by Mariah Mougey (Sr., Enderlin, N.Dak.) in the weight throw.  She placed sixth in an exceptional field and her effort will extend her conference lead in the MIAC standings.

Concordia will host the Cobber Pentathlon on Friday, February 7 at 6:00pm and then compete in the Bison Classic on Saturday, February 8 at 3:30pm.
