A Guide to Concordia Athletic Opportunities

"Cobber Coaches: Experienced and Successful"

- Terry Horan is only the third football coach at Concordia in the past 60 years. He is a 1989 graduate of Concordia. he was a highly successful high school at Breckenridge from 1993-96 and 1999-00. he was named Section and Conference Coach of the Year three times.

- Bucky Burgau has guided the Baseball team to three NCAA tournament appearances since 1992 and MIAC titles in 1993 and 1995. His teams had a record of 409-296-5 in his first 21 years at Concordia.

- Duane Siverson took over the Men's Basketball program in 1991.  He led the Cobbers to an 21-6 record in 1995-96, the MIAC Playoff Championship, and a spot in the NCAA Playoffs. Siverson has also led the Women's Golf team to six MIAC titles in the 1990s, Five consecutive top three finishes at the Division III national tournament and top-6 finishes at the past three combined Division II-III NCAA Tournaments.

- Jim Cella took over the Men's Soccer program in 1992 and the Women's Soccer program in 2000. He built the men's team to a top 10 national ranking in 1994 and 1996, and MIAC Titles in 1995 and 1996. He was named MIAC Men's Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1995.

- Tim Mosser took over the traditionally strong Volleyball program in 1993 after serving as an assistant at Division II power NDSU and guided them to a 28-8 record and the NCAA playoffs in 1995. His 1996 Team went 25-11 in the regular season and again went to the NCAA Tournament. He was the MIAC Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1995.

- Sara Cepek took over the Cobber Women's Basketball program in 2000 and guided the Cobbers to the first-ever MIAC tournament. She is a 1995 graduate of St. Cloud State where she was a three-year starter and Academic All-Conference performer.

- Steve Baumgartner guided the hockey team to the MIAC playoff finals 1999 and 2000. The team won the MIAC playoff championship in 2000 and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs.  His Softball team posted a school record 22 wins in 1993 and went 15-6 in the MIAC in 1999.

- Doug Perry, who coached 46 All-America performances in track, took over the Wrestling program in 1991 and has since had two MIAC champions and three Academic All-Americans. The Cobbers finished 3rd in the 1996 MIAC Dual Tournament.

- Bob Nick heads a Men's' Tennis and Women's Tennis program with long winning traditions.

- Garrick Larson became the Cobber Men's Track and Field coach in 1993 after an All-American career at St. Olaf. His team finished 12th at the 1995 NCAA Division III National Meet, recorded 4 All-America performances in 1996, and placed 3rd at the MIAC Outdoor Meet in 1999. He took over the Men's Cross Country program in 1997.

- Marv Roeske , the Women's Track and Field coach since 1995, led the Cobbers to first place at the 1998 and 1999 MIAC Indoor championships and the 1999 MIAC Outdoor championships. He was MIAC Coach of the Year in 1998 and 1999. He was named Women's Cross Country coach in 1999.
