Angie Strom finished third and Margaret Cropp fourth in the MIAC Heptathlon Championships at Carleton College. Their efforts will give the Cobbers eleven team points going into this weekend's MIAC Championships at St. John's University in Collegeville.
Angie had a personal best 3970 points and Margaret accumulated 3935 points also good for a personal record. Their totals move them to numbers four and five on the all-time Cobber heptathlon list.
Angie set or tied personal records in five of the seven events. This included the 100 meter hurdles (16.00), shot put (32-10.5), 200 meter dash (28.16), javelin throw(103-6), and 800 meter run (2:36.65). She met the MIAC qualifying standard in both the 100 meter hurdles and the javelin throw.
Margaret's competition included six personal bests set or tied in the
seven events. Her achievements were highlighted by a new javelin
school record and Provisional National Qualifying and personal record 124
foot 11 inch javelin throw. Margaret also had PRs in the 100 meter
hurdles (16.46), high jump (4-1.25), 200 meter dash (27.46), long jump
