Nice weather for spring football allowed the team good practice conditions.
Most of the time was spent on fundamentals. Along with the Rockne type
of shift, Coach Cleve used the double
wing back shift and it seemed to work well. It enabled the offensive
team to have a more deceptive attack and the opponents could not tell on
which side of the line the play would come.(12)

The college faculty donated bleachers with a seating capacity of about
800 to the college for its football field. H.C. Nordlie suggested the idea
of each member of the faculty donating $5 to the building fund. The bleachers
were 160 feet long and had six rows. The additional seating increased the
seating capacity to 1200 people and if the bleachers from the gymnasium
were used, a crowd of 1800 could be accommodated.(11)
