Successful season noted in baseball
The 1980 Concordia baseball team put together the most successful baseball season in recent years. The Cobbers had 18 wins and 8 losses overall and were 11-5 in the conference, good for a second-place tie with St. Thomas and St. Olaf. The Cobbers were the only team to beat MIAC champion Gustavus Adoiphus.
Three members of the squad were named all-conference: Tom Simon, a senior
from Brooklyn Center, Minn.; Bob Wentzel, a senior from Wayzata, Minn.;
and Bryon Novotny, a sophomore from Alexandria, Minn. Tom Simon was named
Concordia's Most Valuable Player. Seniors lost to graduation are Simon,
Wentzel, Steve Atchison of Moorhead and Scott Borgstahl of Faribault, Minn.
