Men finish third in MIAC golf tourney
The Concordia men's golf team finished third at the 11-team MIAC tournament held at Gustavus Adolphus College, Oct.12 and 13. Gustavus won the tournament with a 621 score, followed by St. John's University, Collegeville, at 629 and Concordia at 641. Leading Concordia at the tournament was Tom Fuglestad, a sophomore from Napperville, Ill., who finished with a final score of 158. Lance Butner, a sophomore from Sidney, Mont., placed second with a score of 159. During the season, the men placed fifth out of 11 teams at the Erv Kaiser Invitational, Fargo, N.D., and sixth out of 12 teams at both the Bemidji State University Invitational and the St. John's Invitational. The team's best performance was a first-place finish at Valley City (N.D.) State College.
Golfers were Paul Sletten, Paul Stageberg, Tom Fuglestad, Lance Butner, Tom Price, Marc Beulke, and Dave Melin.
