VOLLEYBALL
First-year players aid volleyball effort
Concordia's volleyball team completed the season with six wins and seven losses in regular competition and a 12-14-1 record overall. With three or four freshmen starting in every contest, the team looks forward to strong seasons in the future.
The Cobber women finished second in the Hamline University Invitational Tournament, just one point shy in one game of sweeping the event. Coach Kay Peterson noted that the team turned in its best performance ever in the state tournament. Ranked number 11 of the 12 schools qualifying for that com petition, the Cobbers emerged from the preliminary competi- tion tied for second, They were later defeated in singleelimination play, but Mrs. Peterson noted that it is the first time Concordia has survived the preliminary rounds.
Sue Quenette, a freshman from Moorhead, was cited by Mrs. Peterson as
a key player this year and in the future. The three seniors on the team
were Carol Edwall, a co-captain from New Brighton, Minn.; Sally Folven
from Albert Lea, Minn.; and Virginia Koppendrayer from Milaca, Minn.
