Ray Callaghan joined the Cobber staff as an assistant coach in 1997. For the previous 17 years Ray served as the head boy's basketball coach at Fargo North high School. His Fargo North teams won 2 conference championships, made four state tournament appearances and won one state championship.

Originally from Columbia Falls, MT, Ray has a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Montana State University and a B.S. in Guidance and Counseling from the University of North Dakota (1978).  Prior to coaching at Fargo North, Ray held teaching and coaching positions at  Chehalis, WA, Poplar, MT, and Grand Forks, N.D.

Ray continues to teach in the Fargo school system. He lives in Fargo with his wife, Sharon, and their three children, Megan, Brady and Casey.
