Cobber senior picked Sportsman of the Year

Cory Heit, a senior at Concordia, will receive the Sportsman of the Year Award March 3 at the 31st annual Red River Valley Sportsman's Boat, Camping and Vacation Show at the Fargodome, sponsored by Lake Agassiz Kiwanis Club.

Heit, paralyzed in an automobile accident while returning to Fargo from a hockey tournament in Cloquet, Minn., on Jan. 15, 1989, has overcome his physical limitations to become a great hunter. He recently killed a bear with a crossbow from his wheelchair.

"Cory is an inspiration for his ability to overcome his physical handicap and remain active as a sportsman," said Marty Holsen, chief of the Sportsman's Show.

Heit, majoring in social work and sociology with a minor in psychology, has owned Wee Villa Resort and Campground in Ottertail County, Minn., since 1992 where he pursues his interest in fishing.
