Armin Pipho

Armin Pipho, Ph.D., a 1960 graduate of Luther College , is the chair of the Health and Physical Education Department and Concordia's Athletic Director. He is also a professor in Health and Physical Education at Concordia College.

Pipho holds a master's degree from the University of Iowa and a doctoral degree from the University of Oregon. He has written articles published in the professional journal Athletic Business, and served as chair of the NCAA Division III West Region Football Committee.

A native of Sumner, Iowa, Pipho was an outstanding multi-sport athlete in high school and college. He was inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.

Before accepting his current position at Concordia he taught and coached in the physical education departments of California State College-Stanislaus, Augustana (Ill.) College, Luther College, and Wanamingo High School.

Pipho and his wife, Janet Sue, a reading teacher in the Moorhead Public School District, are the parents of two grown sons, David, a 1994 Cobber grad and Jonathan, a 1997 Luther grad.
