Valley City State Invitational, September 25, 1998:  Concordia bounced back from last week with mentally tough racing at the Valley City Invitational.  Concordia challenged NDCAC perennial power Jamestown right to the finish, and handily defeated University of Mary for the first time.  Dave Dahlseng (Fr., Cyrus, MN/Morris H.S.) led the Cobbers and finished 2nd overall in 26:29 after not competing in the last two meets due to injury.  Chris Goebel (So., Albany, MN) and Gabe Arntson (Jr., Fairmont, MN) improved greatly from the previous two weeks to strengthen Concordia's top 5, running 26:53 (9th) and 27:02 (13th) respectively.  Concordia demonstrated great depth as 9 runners finished under 28:04.  In order to compete among the top 5 teams in the MIAC and the top 9 teams in the NCAA Central Region Championship Concordia will need 5-7 runners under 28:00 on tough, hilly courses.
