Kovash Leads Women's Golf to Third in the Nation

Jenni Kovash ('01 Moorhead) placed 26th at the NCAA National Championship tournament in Florida May 12-15, helping the Cobbers to a third place finish among the nation's top Division III teams. The Cobbers, winners of four consecutive MIAC titles, also captured their third consecutive Minnesota State Women's College Golf Tournament. Kovash and Kari Weidner ('00 Fargo) shared tournament medalist honors.  Cobber coach Duane Siverson was named MWGCA Coach of the Year.

4/20/99 Cobbers win  Concordia Spring Invite - Village Green April 16 This Week's Concordian Story 

Fall Wrap-up:
The fall portion of the 1998-99 women's golf season saw the Cobbers continue their MIAC dominance, winning their 7th MIAC title in 8 years. Sophomore Jenni Kovash ('01, Moorhead) captured the MIAC medalist trophy with a tournament record 152 two-day total at the Oakdale Country Club near Hutchinson Oct. 3-4.  Cobbers Christie Strecker ('00, Albert Lea) and Kari Weidner ('00 Fargo) finished 3rd and 4th respectively to join Kovash on the All MIAC team. The Cobbers won 5 of the 7 tournaments they entered this fall and are currently ranked 2rd in the nation among Division III teams. Two Cobbers, Strecker and Amber Severson ('00, Sioux Falls, S.D.), earned Academic All-MIAC honors for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or better.
