Match Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/27/07)-- Concordia used the strength of their doubles play to edge UW-Eau Claire 5-4 and come away with their first win of the season. The Cobbers won both of the top two doubles matches and then the teams split the six singles matches.

The win is the first of the season for the Cobbers and evens their record at 1-1.

Concordia seniors Jordy Kamerling and Paul Tuchscherer led by example for CC. Both players took care of their singles matches and the pair combined to cruise to a win at the No.1 doubles spot. Kamerling beat Eau Claire's Tim Eisele in the superset (10-7) to post his first singles win of the season. The match was the closest singles of the morning. Tuchscherer followed up Kamerling's victory by beating Aaron Nordenskjold 6-1, 6-2 at No.3 singles to keep his singles record perfect at 2-0 on the season.

Cobber junior William Wischer then finished off the match for Concordia by beating Steve Lantz 6-4, 6-2 at No.2 singles. Wischer, like Kamerling and Tuchscherer, was also perfect on the day as he teamed with senior Ryan Smith at No. 2 doubles and recorded an 8-4 win.

The Cobbers will turn around and face NCAA Division II St. Cloud State later in the afternoon.
