Match Recap: The Cobbers used a pair of dramatic singles victories to hold off St. Olaf and edge the Oles 5-4 in a key MIAC conference match on Saturday in Northfield. Concordia won two doubles matches and a trio of singles bouts to claim their second consecutive victory and even their conference record at 2-2. The win pushes CC into a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings with St. Olaf and St. John's. The Cobbers are now 3-4 overall. The loss for the Oles comes a day after they bettered St. John's 6-3. St. Olaf is now 2-2 in league play and 2-3 overall. The two most dramatic wins for Concordia came from the two winningest Cobber tennis players in the past three seasons. Jordy Kamerling shook off one match point to rally for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 win in the super-set tiebreaker at No.1 singles and Paul Tuchscherer claimed also came from behind to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 win at the No.3 singles spot. Both victories were crucial in Concordia's second conference win of the season. The two also combined to score a victory in the No.1 doubles match as they outlasted St. Olaf's Ian Pray and Nick Crnkovich 9-7. The other double winner in the match for CC was junior William Wischer who teamed with Ryan Smith to record an 8-5 win at No.2 doubles and then rattled off a straight set 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No.2 singles position. The Cobber top three singles players have now combined for six singles wins in the past two matches. Concordia will put their two-match winning streak on the line when they square off against Martin Luther College on Sunday, Mar. 18 at 10 a.m. at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
