FARGO, N.D. (5/1/10)-- Lone Cobber senior Amy Freeman capped her career in stylish fashion as she won both her doubles and singles matches against Macalester on Saturday. Unfortunately the two wins by Freeman wasn't enough to help Concordia to the overall team win as they fell 5-4 to Macalester in the final match of the 2010 season for both teams.
Concordia finishes the year with a 3-7 record in the MIAC and a 7-10 mark in all matches. The Scots also finish with a 3-7 record in league play and move to 12-7 in overall matches.
Freeman finished her four years in maroon and gold by teaming with Mel Gail at No.2 doubles and earning a 9-7 win. Freeman then turned to singles play and won 6-3, 6-4 at No.3 singles. The win in singles play is the eighth of the year for Freeman and ties her for the team lead in eins with Gail. It was also Freeman's 27th career singles win.
The other wins for the Cobbers came in singles play. Julie Olson recorded a 6-3, 7-5 at No.5 singles play and Kelly Kalvoda won 6-4, 6-1 at No.6 singles. The win for Olson snapped a seven-match losing skid and Kalvoda completed her season by winning her sixth singles match of the year.
