Gameday Game Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/15/07)-- Concordia stayed even with Division II MSU Moorhead for the first 30 minutes on play. Unfortunately, college basketball games are 40 minutes long and the Cobbers fell 69-47 to the Dragons on Saturday at MSU Moorhead. CC led 40-39 with 10:47 to play but were then outscored 30-7 in the final stretch of play and lost to MSU M for the second time this season.  The Dragons posted a 67-55 win in the Cobbers' second game of the year.

The loss snaps a one-game winning streak for the Cobbers, while the Dragons have now won four straight. CC drops to 2-6 on the seasons. MSU M is now 7-3. The Dragons have now won the last nine games in the series dating back to the 1998-99 season. Concordia has now held opponents under 70 points in four of the past seven games. The 47 points scored by the Cobbers is the fewest of the season. It is also the fewest points scored by CC since Feb. 14, 2006 when they scored 44 points in a loss at St. Thomas.

In the game against the Dragons, Concordia freshman Erik Lien had a team-high 13 points and was 5-for-10 from the floor. He also grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Lien was the only CC player with more than eight points in the game. Senior Luke Linz was held to eight points on a 4-of-12 shooting afternoon from the floor. The eight points is the fewest of the year for Linz and breaks a streak of 24 straight games that he had scored in double figures. Ryan Hagemeyer, seeing the first extended playing time of his collegiate career, went 3-for-3 from the field and added six points.

The Dragons were led by Justyn Burgess who had a game-high 14 points in the game. Of those 14 points, 12 came in the second half when he went 4-for-6 from the floor and 2-for-2 from 3-point range. Burgess also led MSU Moorhead in the team's first game against Concordia. In November, he went 7-for-9 from the floor and had 21 points. Blake Strouth was the only other MSU M player in double digits in points. Strouth, who was held scoreless in the first meeting with the Cobbers, had 13 points.

As a team, Concordia shot 39.2% (20-of-51) from the field but just 12.5% (1-for-8) from behind the arc. MSU Moorhead connected on 45.6% (26-of-57) of their shots from the floor and 43.5% (10-of-23) from 3-point range. The Dragons were 7-of-10 from behind the arc in the decisive last 10 minutes of play.

Neither team shot very many free throws. Concordia was 6-for-8 from the line, while MSU Moorhead went 7-for-9 from the free throw line.
