NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/30/08)-- Concordia shot a season-low 26.4% (14-for-53) from the floor and lost 69-45 to St. Olaf in Northfield on Wednesday. The Cobbers also produced a frigid 23.1% (3-for-13) from 3-point range in losing for the second straight game. CC is now 7-6 in the MIAC and falls into fifth place in the league standings. Concordia is now 8-10 overall. The Oles win for the fourth time in the past six games and remain in the hunt for the playoffs as they move to 6-7 in the conference and 8-10 overall.

The game was over in the first 10 minutes of play as St. Olaf raced to an 18-point lead at 23-5 midway through the opening half. During that stretch, Concordia went 1-for-12 from the floor and turned the ball over five times. All told, the Cobbers connected on only two field goals in the first 15 minutes of play. By that time the Oles had pushed the lead to 22 points and would take a 39-19 lead into the break.

In the second half, Concordia made one run at the start of the period to cut the lead to 13 points at 41-28, but St. Olaf responded with a 17-3 and put the game out of reach at 58-31 with 9:24 to play in the game.


Concordia will play another road game this weekend when they travel to St. Paul to take on Macalester on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m. The Cobbers will then return home to face Hamline on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m.


The Cobbers had only one player with more than eight points and did not have a player connect on more than four field goals in the game. Luke Linz was 2-for-11 from the field, but went 9-for-11 from the free throw line and finished with a game-high 13 points. He also had four rebounds, two steals and one block. Ryan Johnson went 4-for-5 from the floor and finished with eight points. He also added four rebounds.

St. Olaf had 10 players score at least 10 points in the game. They posted three players in double figures in scoring. Bobby Hunter and Nate Krosschell had 12 points each. Krosschell, starting for the first time all season, also had a game-high 10 rebounds to record his first collegiate double-double.


St. Olaf shot 44.4% (24-for-54) from the floor and 31.3% (5-for-16) from behind the arc. The Oles were consistent from the free throw line and connected on 88.9% (16-for-18) of their foul shots. St. Olaf outrebounded the Cobbers 39-36 in the game. CC turned the ball over 11 times as compared to only seven for St. Olaf. However, the Oles turned that margin into an 18-4 advantage in points off of turnovers.
