MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (1/30/09)-- Seven different Augsburg College players scored goals -- led by Trevor Doden's (FY, Red Wing, Minn.) two goals and an assist -- as Augsburg College claimed a 8-4 victory over Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey action on Friday night at the Augsburg Ice Arena.

Also having multiple-point nights for Augsburg (4-14-0 overall, 3-6-0 MIAC) was Chris Johnson (JR, Verona, Wis./Madison Memorial HS), who had a goal and two assists and Joel Sauer (SO, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS) and Bryan Frischmann (SO, Rochester, Minn./Century HS), who each had two assists.

Concordia (3-15-2 overall, 1-8-2 MIAC) was led by Alec Holen (SR, Thief River Falls, Minn.) who scored two goals and an assist. Also scoring for goals for the Cobbers were Marc Harrie (FR, Fargo, N.D.) and Cory Johnson (SR, Moorhead, Minn.).

Concordia tallied the first goal of the night off Holen goal at the 3:30 mark. The Auggies answered back with goals by Doden and Johnson to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room at the first intermission. Augsburg continued its strong play in the second period, scoring three goals while only giving up a power-play goal at the 10:22 mark. The Auggies showed how dynamic they were offensively in the third period by scoring an even-strength goal, a shorthanded goal and a power-play goal, all within a six-minute stretch. The Cobbers claimed the final goal of the night, a power play goal by Johnson with 27 seconds left to play.

The Auggies claimed a 36-34 advantage in shots on goal and finished 1-for-4 on the power play. The Cobbers finished 3-for-6 on the power play and capitalized on a shorthanded goal in the third period. Augsburg goalie Andrew Kent (SR, Lakeville, Minn.) came up big for the Auggies, stopping 30 shots in the victory over the Cobbers. Concordia goalie Mike Persson (JR, Regina, Sask.) made 22 saves in 38 minutes of action while Ole Bronbo (FR, Fjellhamar, Norway) made six saves in relief.

Both teams return to action on Saturday (1/31) at 2 p.m. at the Augsburg Ice Arena.
