BLAINE, Minn. (9/26/10)-- Concordia used their final tune up before the MIAC Championship Meet to get into winning form as they won the Macalester Invite on Sunday. The Cobbers shot a two-day total of 586 (295-291) and won the event by nine strokes over runner-up St. Olaf. The win is the second of the year for CC who won the Jamestown Invite at the start of the season.

Concordia had all five golfers finish in the top 10 of the tournament that was played on Victory Links GC in Blaine. Junior Pat Deitz fired a 1-under 71 on Sunday and tied for medalist honors. Deitz had a 74 on Saturday and was three shots better on the second day to claim his first tournament win of the year.

Tyler Champ continued his hot season. He was only one shot off the leaders as he carded a 75-71=146 and finished in third place. It is the third time this season he has finished in the top 20 at a meet and the second time he has posted a top 3 finish.

Zach Kappes, Jordie Siverson and Andrew Whitchurch rounded out the Cobber top 10 quintet. All three had scores of 150. Kappes went 74-76 while Siverson shot a 72-78 and Whitchurch finished with scores of 77 and 73.

The Cobbers will now head to the MIAC Championship Meet at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids where they will hope to post a top 3 finish for the first time since 2001.
