McGlynn Earns MIAC Honor! | ||
MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/06/09)-- Concordia sophomore forward Riley McGlynn (Hampstead, N.C./Bozeman HS) was named the MIAC Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday. McGlynn becomes the first Cobber player to earn the award this season. It marks the first time time in his career that he has earned the weekly award. McGlynn scored four goals in the Cobbers’ two conference wins last week. His goals helped Concordia move to 3-3-0 in conference play and jump into fourth place in the league standings. It is the first time since 2001 that the Cobbers have won three straight MIAC games. McGlynn had a goal in Concordia’s 2-1 win over previously conference unbeaten Bethel on Wednesday and then had the game-winning goal and a hat trick in the team’s 4-0 win over St. Mary’s on Saturday. For the week he also had 10 shots and seven shots on goal in the team’s two games. Against the Royals McGlynn scored the first goal of the game that gave Concordia the momentum in the first half. On Saturday against the Cardinals he started the scoring with a goal in third minute of play and then put the game out of reach with a pair of scores in the second period. For the season McGlynn has a team-leading eight goals for 16 overall points. He currently leads the MIAC in goals scored in conference play with six. He is also tied for second in overall points with 12.
