McGlynn Earns MIAC Weekly Award!

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/21/10)--
Cobber junior forward Riley McGlynn was named the MIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week it was announced on Tuesday by the league office. It is the second straight season that McGlynn has captured the honor. Last year he won the award after he scored four goals in a pair of MIAC wins.

McGlynn scored both goals in the Cobbers’ 2-1 over Gustavus on Saturday. McGlynn’s goals helped Concordia snap a two-game losing streak and post their first MIAC win of the year. After starting the season 0-2 in conference play, the Cobbers faced a must-win game on Saturday and McGlynn responded by scoring both of Concordia’s goals.

He scored the first goal of the game at 28:43 and then added the game-winner with only 3:50 left in regulation. On the game-winner he perfectly timed a run behind the Gustavus defense and ran on to a crossing pass. McGlynn then flick-headed the ball past the Gustie goalie.

McGlynn currently leads the MIAC in shots (29), shots per game (4.14), points (14) and goals (6) in overall games.
