MATCH RECAP:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/09/10)--Concordia came up with key points at the end of each set against Jamestown on Thursday in Moorhead and came up with their third straight sweep. The Cobbers claimed a 25-22, 25-17, 26-24 win to earn their fifth victory of the season and move to 5-1 on the year. The Jimmies fall for the sixth straight time and drop to 4-10.

The tome for the match was set at the end of the first set when the Cobbers cranked off five straight points and rallied from a 22-20 deficit to take a 25-22 victory. The Jimmies had threatened to run away with the opener but after they took a 4-0 lead, they watched as CC tied the set at 8-8. The set would stay close the rest of the way until the final decisive run.

Concordia made sure that Jamestown wouldn't recover from the opening set heartbreaking loss as they turned a 12-12 tie into a 20-15 lead. They would close out the second set by winning five of the final seven points. The third set was just a replay of the first two bouts. The Jimmies hung around and tried to come up with a win but they couldn't come up with set point leading 24-23 and CC closed out the match on an attack error and a pair of kills from Katie Vohnoutka.

Vohnoutka wound up with nine kills and a match-high 15 digs. Jenna Green led the team in kills for the sixth straight match this season. She finished with 13 kills and 14 digs and was a thorn in the Jimmies' side all match long as she routinely came up with winners from the front line. Amy Sykora had 18 assists to pace the CC attack. Danelle Loomis added 17 helpers and Brooke Tastad chipped in seven kills.

As a team Concordia had a .250 attack percentage and came away with 43 total kills and 62 digs. Jamestown was held to a .193 attack percentage and had 49 digs. The Jimmies were led by Shannon Fee who had 12 kills while Krysten Williams finished with a team-high 13 digs.

The Cobbers will have the weekend off before opening MIAC play at Bethel on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
