Meet Recap

FARGO, N.D. (9/03/10)-- Concordia opened the 2010 season by competing at the NDSU Bison Open on Friday. The Cobbers used the opening meet to gain experience and get ready for their Division III season. CC ran against NCAA Division I NDSU in a dual meet and came in second place.

The biggest surprise for Concordia at the meet was the effort of senior Kristy Singlestad who led the Cobbers with a time of 20:06.73. She was the only CC athlete in the top 10 at the meet as she finished in ninth place. Singlestad's finishing time was :36 faster than the time she posted last year at the same meet. Singlestad's top team feat is even more remarkable considering the fact that she was the fourth fastest Concordia runner at last year's conference championship meet and two years ago she didn't even make the top seven runners that competed at the conference meet.

Another positive for Marv Roeske's crew at the meet was the fact that of the 15 athletes who competed in last year's Bison Open meet, nine improved their time in this year's competition. Kristiana Sather was the athlete that showed the most improvement from last year. Sather ran a 22:03.59 on Friday which is four minutes faster than the time she ran in 2009.

Concordia will have two weeks to prepare for their next meet as they race at the St. Olaf Invite on Sept. 18 at 11 a.m.
