Meet Recap

Jamestown, N.D. (9/01/10)--Concordia kicked off the 2010 season by competing at the Jimmie Open at Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown, N.D. on Wednesday. The Cobbers had four golfers shoot 91 or better and finished in third place with a team total of 357.

Cobber sophomore Laura Ayers led the way for CC as she shot an 87 and finished in a tie for ninth place. Ayers opened the season by going out in 39 in the first nine holes but then shot a 48 on the back side and finished with 87. The 87 is a career-low for Ayers whose previous best was an 88 at the MIAC Championship Meet last fall.

Jenna Westerham was almost the exact opposite of Ayers as she started slow and finished with a flurry. Westerham went out in 48 but then came home in 41 and finished with an 89. Freshman Lauren Alsaker matched Westerham's 89 and was the only other Cobber to shoot under 90 in her first collegiate meet. Jeanna Kratzke shot a 90 to round out the Cobber top four.

Concordia will have nine days off before hosting the annual Cobber Invite and Open tournaments on Sept. 10-12 at Wildflower GC in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
