Gameday Game Recap

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/11/10)-- The saying goes that all good things must come to an end and that is what happened to No.10-ranked Concordia's regular-season winning streak against regional rival UW-Eau Claire. CC conceded a goal in the 31st minute and watched as their 20-game regular-season winning streak came to an end on Saturday in Moorhead.

The loss is the first of the year for Concordia and drops their record to 3-1. The Blugolds snap a two-game losing streak and even their record to 2-2 on the year.

The story of the game would be missed opportunities for the Cobbers. CC had several golden chances to break through on the scoreboard but each time their shooting sights were misaligned or Eau Claire goalie Amanda Hakala was equal to the test. Hakala finished the game with four saves and all proved to be big as Concordi was shutout for the first time in the regular season since the final game of the 2008 season - also the last time they lost a regular-season game.

The lone goal of the game came at 30:41 when Rachel Nerison fired home a shot off of a rebound. The goal was Nerison's second of the year and came after the initial shot from Gina Williams was saved by Cobber keeper Ali Nelson.

The Blugolds outshot Concordia 16-8 for the game with most of the Eau Claire shots coming from around the top of the penalty area. The Cobbers had several chances from inside the 18 misfire.

Nelson finished with 10 saves for CC and both Sarah Rounds and Gina Weiss had a team-high three shots in the game.

Concordia will return to MIAC action when they play at Macalester on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m.
