St. John's News Release

The SJU soccer team was in action over the weekend, Saturday, Sept. 11 and Sunday Sept. 12, at Colorado College. On Saturday, they faced off against MacMurray, Ill. The Johnnies ran away with the victory, 4-0. The Johnnies received goals from freshman Travis Miller, Fargo, N.D., junior Mark Dodge, Brooklyn Park, senior Nick Wessinger, Eagan and freshman Dan Schmidt, St. Paul. Kevin Kohnen, Ramsey and Kevin Bell, Des Moines, Iowa, split the shutout in goal. Kohnen played 75 minutes and recorded two saves and Bell played 15 minutes and recorded two saves.

In Sundayís game the Johnnies met host Colorado College. Colorado College scored the first goal and never looked back. Junior Tim Schmidt, Eagan, scored a goal at the 73:42 mark, making it a one goal difference. Colorado College proved to be too much by chipping in a goal at 89:19 securing the victory. Kohnen recorded four saves in net for the Johnnies.

Currently, the Johnnie soccer team is 1-3-1 on the season. Next up the Johnnies travel to Moorhead for two games. On Saturday Sept. 18, SJU plays St. Scholastica at 3 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 19, the Johnnies play Nebraska Wesleyan at 1 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. SJU travels to St. Paul to open the conference schedule against Macalester.
