10/12 Concordia Wins Seesaw Battle With Hamline 3-2.
Jessica Spaulding's (Jr., Plymouth, MN) goal with 5:17 left in regulation,
finally gave Concordia a lead that Hamline was unable to erase, and the
game ended 3-2. For the first 84 minutes the Cobbers and Pipers traded
goals and possesion time. Concordia scored first, just seven minutes into
the game, when Jordi Kortan (Sr., Moorhead, MN) found herself behind the
Hamline defense and tallied her 10th goal of the year. The Pipers rallied
and Sandy Surgess took a shot that eluded Cobber keeper Kathy Braun (Jr.,
Willmar, MN). Concordia went ahead at the 29:32 mark on an 18 yard shot
by Kendra Lee (So., Jamestown, ND) only to have the score tied in the 70th
minute. The teams battled for 15 minutes until Spaulding sealed the game
and Concordia's second win in the MIAC. The Cobbers move to 2-3 in league
play and 7-4 overall. Concordia continues their home stand on Saturday
when they host St. Olaf at 12:00.
