1/06 Concordia Loses First MIAC
Game to Carleton 71-58.
All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately for Concordia
two streaks were ended against Carleton. The Cobbers lost the game 71-58,
and in the process lost their 36 game unbeaten streak to Carleton. They
also lost their four game unbeaten string in the MIAC this year. The culprit
in the game was an ice cold shooting touch. Concordia shot a frigid 16-for-56
(.286) from the field in the game. Despite their inconsistent shooting
touch, the Cobbers went in at half with a 30-29 lead. The key stretch in
the game came early in the second half when Carleton went on a 15-4 run.
From that point on the Knights never trailed, and were driven by a career
high 17 points from Karen Fricke. Brandi Myers (Sr., Glyndon, MN) led all
scorers with 19 points to go along with 8 steals. The only other Cobber
in double digits was Kasey Bostow(So., Fargo, ND) who finished the game
with 10.
The loss drops Concordia to 4-1 in the MIAC and 6-2 overall. Carleton
improves to 5-1 in the league and a school record start of 7-2 overall.
The Cobbers stay on the road and play at Gustavus on Monday January 8th
at 5:30.
