Same story, different game. Concordia used an opening game run, and Brandi Myers' (Sr, Glyndon, MN) three-point shooting to top Hamline 78-61. It was the same scenario they used to defeat Bethel on Saturday. Myers put down seven three-pointers on her way to a game-high 26 points. Along with her 26 points she contributed five assists and five steals. Katrina Wilberts (So., Breckenridge) played tough inside, and finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sarah Jacobson (Sr., Fargo, ND) added seven points, five assists and five rebounds.
The Cobbers started the game on a 8-0 run and used that margin to lead throughout the half, and take a 38-27 lead into halftime. The Pipers stayed close as they cut the margin to three at 24-21 late in the opening stanza. In the second half Concordia steadily pulled away and never let Hamline get to within 14 points. For the game Concordia shot a consistent 43% (28-for-65) from the field and a blistering 10-for-19 (52%) from behind the three-point arc. Hamline shot 42% (24-for-56) from the field but only 1-for-7 (14%) from three-point range. Both teams turned the ball over 27 times.
Concordia gets their fifth consecutive win, and climb to 10-2 in the
MIAC and 12-3 overall. Hamline drops to 3-8 in league play and 3-11 overall.
Concordia will host Augsburg on Saturday, January 27th at 1:00.
