Ryan Hebrink (So., Sacred Heart, Minn./BDRSH HS) threw three touchdown passes and Concordia College-Moorhead picked off four Augsburg College passes, as the Cobbers cruised to a 33-3, season-ending victory in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Friday afternoon at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

Hebrink completed eight of his 10 passes for 99 yards, but three were for touchdowns -- two to Jeff Hertel (Sr., Fargo, N.D./South HS), as the Cobbers finished their season at 5-5 overall and 4-5 in the MIAC. Augsburg ended its season at 4-6 overall and 4-5 in the MIAC.

The Cobbers outgained the Auggies by a 376-247 margin, putting together 277 yards of rushing on 57 carries in the contest.

Meanwhile, Concordia's defense claimed four interceptions, one returned for a touchdown and two which set up Cobber scores. In the final three games of the season, Augsburg turned the ball over 19 times -- 13 interceptions and six fumbles.

The game appeared to be a close one early, as a 12-play, 58-yard Cobber drive ended at the Augsburg 2-yard line on a fumble. Augsburg then drove 73 yards on 16 plays, ending the drive with a career-best 42-yard field goal by Tim Mauseth (Sr., Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS).

However, after that, the game was all Cobbers. Concordia scored its first touchdown on a 51-yard run up the middle by Jeremy Hinderks (So., Renville, Minn./BDRSH HS). The Cobbers took advantage of an interception off of Auggie starting quarterback Johnny Goodale (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.), but a field-goal attempt was blocked by Matt Chappuis (Sr., Buffalo, Minn.). However, on the next play, Goodale threw another interception, and six plays later, Hebrink threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jake Olson (Jr., Crookston, Minn.).

Dave Fransen (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) replaced Goodale at quarterback in the second half, but two plays into the second half, his pass was picked off by Concordia's Travis Olson (Sr., Hawley, Minn.), who returned it 38 yards for a touchdown.

An 11-play, 72-yards drive later in the quarter resulted in another Cobber score, an 8-yard pass from Hebrink to Hertel, and an eight-play, 67-yard drive to start the fourth quarter ended in another scoring hookup from Hebrink to Hertel, this time from 19 yards.

Hertel gained 50 yards on five receptions to lead the Cobbers. Concordia's top-ranked rushing offense continued its dominance, with five ballcarriers gaining 30 yards or more, led by Robert Clark's (So., Seeley Lake, Mont./Seeley-Swan HS) 97 yards on 11 carrles. Joel Ferrie (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) gained 64 yards on 13 carries, and Hebrink had 57 yards on 17 carries. Hinderks carired the ball five times for 54 yards, and Jon Doebler (Sr., Warroad, Minn.) had 30 yards on eight carries.

Four different Cobbers had interceptions -- Olson's touchdown, Shane Satterlee (Jr., Litchfield, Minn.), Adam Bakker (Sr., Walker, Minn./W-H-A HS) and Jordan Talge (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.). Ben Holm (Sr., Gillette, Wyo./Campbell County HS) led Cobber defenders with 6.0 tackles (two solo), while Derek Fischer (So., Olivia, Minn./BOLD HS) and Satterlee had 4.5 tackles apiece. Jonathan Huber (Fr., Bismarck, N.D./Century HS) had 1.5 sacks.
